Green Construction
The Green Construction pathway of New Jersey’s Green Program of Study shares the same foundation as the other two industry-specific programs. It builds upon strong academic content, workplace competencies and environmental and cross-industry knowledge to prepare students for career success in “green” residential and commercial construction, project management, energy efficiency, trade specialties, and building safety and inspection. The New Jersey Building Trades Council is the key industry partner working with the Green Construction Advisory Committee to oversee the development of the specialized industry-specific content for program. The group is working to identify course sequence and credentials for green construction; identify linkages with existing and developing collegiate and apprenticeship programs; and further define the knowledge and competencies needed for the green construction industry. The national Multi-Craft Core Curriculum developed by the building trades industry will guide the development of the curriculum, with a special emphasis on energy efficiency and sustainable construction practices.
